Who this resource is for, how it is reviewed, what it does not claim, and how your data is handled.
Intended users
This site is intended for qualified healthcare professionals: gastroenterologists, IBD specialist nurses, trainees in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and allied clinicians involved in inflammatory bowel disease care.
It is not written for patients. Patients should discuss any question about their own condition or treatment with their own clinical team.
Scope and limitations
Scores and indices are calculation aids. A score is one input into a clinical decision, never the decision itself.
Several indices were developed for clinical trials rather than routine practice. Where that is the case, the calculator says so.
Thresholds and targets reflect published consensus at the time of writing. Consensus changes, and a target appropriate for one patient may not be appropriate for another.
The treat-to-target planner proposes monitoring targets and review intervals. It does not select, start, stop or adjust any treatment.
Live literature feeds return what PubMed indexes. Those results are unreviewed and may include work later retracted or superseded.
How content is reviewed
Clinical content is written and reviewed by the site’s author, a practising consultant gastroenterologist with a subspecialty practice in inflammatory bowel disease. Scoring implementations are checked against the original publication.
This is single-author review. It is not a formal editorial board, not peer review, and not an institutional governance process, and should not be relied on as though it were.
Institutional position
This is a personal professional project. No hospital, ministry, society or commercial body has reviewed, approved or endorsed its content. Where an institution is named, it identifies the source of a cited guideline, nothing more.
Privacy and data
No account is required and no sign-in exists.
Scores you save are stored in your own browser’s local storage. They are not transmitted anywhere and the author cannot see them.
Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently. There is no backup.
No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts run on this site.
Literature pages query the US National Library of Medicine’s PubMed service directly from your browser; typefaces are served by Google Fonts. Those requests reach third-party servers in the ordinary way that any web request does.
The contact form is processed by Netlify, the site’s host. Do not send identifiable patient information through it.
Disclaimer
This site is provided for professional education and decision support. It supports, and does not replace, clinical judgement. Responsibility for any clinical decision rests with the treating clinician. No warranty is given that the content is complete, current or free from error.
