A simplified clinical activity index for adult Crohn's disease, derived from the CDAI and completed at a single consultation.
What is scored
The calculator collects 5 items:
General Well-being
Abdominal Pain
Number of Liquid Stools
Abdominal Mass
Extraintestinal Manifestations / Complications
Any item left blank stops the score being calculated — an incomplete form never reports as remission.
Interpretation
≤ 4
Clinical Remission
5 - 7
Mildly Active
8 - 16
Moderately Active
> 16
Severely Active
Bands as implemented in IBD Care. A band is a description of the score, not an instruction.
Limitations
Clinical only, with no laboratory or endoscopic input, so it reflects symptoms rather than inflammation. It shares the CDAI's weakness of scoring functional symptoms as disease activity. The abdominal-mass item depends on the examiner.
