Disease activity in children and adolescents with Crohn's disease, combining symptoms, examination findings, growth parameters and laboratory values.
What is scored
The calculator collects 11 items:
Abdominal Pain
Stools per day
General Well-being
Weight
Height
Abdominal examination
Perirectal disease
Extraintestinal manifestations
Haematocrit
Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate
Serum albumin
Any item left blank stops the score being calculated — an incomplete form never reports as remission.
Interpretation
< 10
Remission
10 - 27.5
Mild
30 - 37.5
Moderate
≥ 40
Severe
Bands as implemented in IBD Care. A band is a description of the score, not an instruction.
Limitations
Requires height velocity and laboratory results, so it cannot be completed at the bedside alone. The growth items make serial scoring sensitive to measurement technique. Several abbreviated versions exist and scores are not interchangeable between them.
