Simple Endoscopic Score for Crohn's Disease

Simple Endoscopic Score for Crohn's Disease.

Crohn'sEndoscopicValidated score

Clinical indication

Endoscopic activity in Crohn's disease across five segments, scoring ulcer size, ulcerated surface, affected surface and narrowing. Simpler and faster than the CDEIS.

What is scored

Simple Endoscopic Score for Crohn's Disease.

Any item left blank stops the score being calculated — an incomplete form never reports as remission.

Interpretation

0 - 2Remission
3 - 6Mild
7 - 15Moderate
> 15Severe

Bands as implemented in IBD Care. A band is a description of the score, not an instruction.

Limitations

Requires that all five segments are reached, so an incomplete or obstructed examination cannot be scored properly. It assesses mucosa only and says nothing about transmural or penetrating disease. Segments that cannot be intubated because of stricture are a known source of underestimation.
