Day-3 prediction of colectomy during the admission.
Prediction on the third day of intravenous corticosteroid of the need for colectomy during the same admission, used to time rescue therapy rather than to wait for failure.
The calculator collects 3 items:
Any item left blank stops the score being calculated — an incomplete form never reports as remission.
| < 3 stools/day | Criteria not met |
| 3 - 8 stools/day, CRP ≤ 45 | Incomplete response |
| > 8/day, or 3 - 8/day with CRP > 45 | Meets criteria (~85% colectomy) |
Bands as implemented in IBD Care. A band is a description of the score, not an instruction.
Validated specifically at day three of intravenous steroid; applying it on another day changes its meaning. It predicts colectomy during that admission, not longer-term outcome, and was derived before widespread rescue therapy. It identifies risk and does not select between ciclosporin, infliximab or surgery.
